Inked Up

For our photography unit, Morgan and I decided to try taking pictures of ink slowly being added to water.

We also tried using washing up liquid and oil with different cups of water to create some interesting effects.

oil...

and ink...

We then tried pouring the mixture of all three into another cup...

In a different cup, we started with just water and added ink using a brush...

We also tried using the brush to create a sort or whirl pool effect...

I think the ghost-y brush effect is quite cool too.

I enjoyed experimenting with the different options available and I found it fascinating watching the different patterns emerging.

Margaret Soraya

Margaret Soraya is a  wedding and landscape photographer based in Drumnadrochit in the Highlands of Scotland.

I came across her work because one of her landscape photos (above) was in a magazine that John Parris gave me last year. I was looking through the photos in the magazine to find photographers that I could use for my photography unit at college.

These are some of her landscape photographs that I particularly liked:

I love the atmosphere created by the reflections in the water and the mist/fog. This last photo also has a wintery feel which I really like.
