June 2019 - Delphinium Pendants

I was commissioned to design/make two Delphinium pendants for twins birthdays in July, as Delphiniums are the birth-flower for July.

It took me a little while to come up with an idea for this but in the end I found a way to use wire to make the "outline" and then used thin beading wire to attach blue seed-beads which created a stylised Delphinium, which then just needed a chain.

I am really pleased with the way these turned out. I also plan to experiment with this design, turning it into a bangle and earrings (although it may be too heavy for earrings!).

I also tried this "outline" using different coloured beads to represent different flowers but, personally, I don't think they work as well as the delphiniums.

May 2019 - Now, Where was I?

Ah, yes! The paper flowers I made in April (2019) and then I was trying to get my self-portrait finished for the 150th post! So that brings us/me to May...

Back in May, I did a few little "paintings" - one of a section of the River Tweed, one of a view of Ullswater, and one of Balnakeil Bay.

I did the sketch part of this River Tweed painting in a sketchbook, while I was actually there and then added the colour later using a photograph as reference.

The Ullswater painting was done on watercolour paper and stuck on a birthday card.

This view of Balnakeil Bay was done on a 13x18cm canvas board and given as a birthday present.

I'm quite pleased with these but I think the one of Ullswater is my favourite because I managed to get some more detail into the foreground than I did with the other two.
