After I tried out the photo decoupage of "The Road to Selkirk" and Holy Island boats, I decided to do drawings of them and decoupage those as well.
For the Road to Selkirk drawing, I sketched it first and then photocopied it onto watercolour paper ( silly me - I drew it on paper which was too thin for wet media) and used Inktense pencils, and water brushes, to add colour.
I then photocopied it so that I had 8 copies/ layers. This is the result:
I really like this image for making decoupage because of where the different layers are cut. I also really like the way the curves of the road lead your eye into the centre which is a sort of circular shape.
I then did a drawing of the boats (which I think have been turned into sheds) on Holy Island and photocopied it so that I had 8 layers.
I really like the shadows created by the boats in this drawing and along with the decoupage I think this helps make the image look more 3D, however this only really shows in the close-up photo.
I look forward to experimenting more with decoupage and deciding on what to do for my final piece.
