Helen Smith: Artist, Maker

Helen Smith is a visual artist working in glass, print and stitch. She likes to focus on light and texture on surfaces and her work is often informed by the "beautiful light and the calm open expanse of the estuary" near where she lives.

I came across a few of her posts about her handmade paper items. I particularly liked the seashore cards:

I think these are a really cool way to use "sea glass" and make completely unique artworks. I really like the different textures/effects created on the handmade paper.

I have a few pieces of "sea glass" at home so I might try something like this for myself. I am not sure how she creates the sea effects on the handmade paper though - maybe if I experiment a bit I might get a similar effect.
